Instrumental Group lessons : FIVE! project

We are currently working in Methlick Primary School and offer fun weekly instrumental group lessons at £5 per half hour lesson per child.  Through a partnership with ‘The Gaitherin’ we are able to provide instruments at no cost to young people who are keen to learn to play (donations are welcomed for hire but not compulsory).

If any family have difficulty making payments we can offer a bursary place, reduced rate or a weekly payment plan to help with this.  In order for the classes to run we need 4 pupils per class prior to commencement.

Parents will be invoiced by Gadie Music for fees which are amongst the most competitive in the whole of Scotland!  The schools have no financial burden when undertaking the scheme, all we ask for is a suitable room in which to teach and your support in encouraging the pupils to practice and take part in performances.

If you think your school would benefit from such a scheme please contact Sharon at

Creative Music Workshops

  • Drumming and Percussion (whole class)

Drumming workshops are available to pupils of all ages from P1 upwards.  A great way to develop listening skills, coordination, concentration and self confidence whilst having a fun time in the process. Groupwork is the key to these classes and pupils develop pieces of percussive music together with the tutor using call and response, graphic scores and stories. Many teachers have also found these classes excellent fun to be involved in themselves!  We often create music to fit in with class projects. Junk Band for environmental projects is a current favourite, it amazing what you can do with some old cornflake packets and dusty old bins!

Resources required : Drums/Percussion instruments and beaters for the number of children taking part.  If you would like to take part but feel you may not have enough instruments please call Sharon to discuss options for free instrument loan for projects on 07737 228537.

  • Build A Band Workshops

Band workshops are available for P5-7 pupils who are currently learning an instrument or would like to play percussion or sing in a group setting.  We work with what ever instrumentation we find in the school.  If you have a cellist, trumpeter, violinists, recorder, accordionist or even a player of the spoons we can work with them to bring some of their favourite songs to life!

The aim of these workshops is to develop confidence in young people, improve their ability to work as a team and take responsibility for their own performances.  We can also customise these workshops to help with the delivery of class topics and other elements of the curriculum.

We have recently worked in schools to create arrangements of:

Traditional Scottish Songs and Tunes (including Burns)

Payphone - Maroon 5

Moves like Jagger - Maroon 5

Bad Romance - Lady Gaga

The Man Who Can’t Be Moved - The Script

I’m Yours - Jason Mraz

Thinking of Me - Olly Murs

Soul Sister - Train

Don’t Stop Believing - Journey/Glee

Rocking around the Christmas Tree

I Wish It Could be Christmas Every Day

Merry Christmas Everybody - Slade

Holly Jolly Christmas - Michael Buble
